Hope4Kids N.O.W. (No One Without) campaign is about the thousands of children in foster care who will be increasingly vulnerable if they are not adopted before they age out of the system. Statistics tell us that not having a forever family to care for and guide them as they move into adulthood puts them at greater risk for difficulties and challenges such as addiction, incarceration, and early parenthood.
Avery (11) is one of the children in foster care who needs a family before he is thrust into the world alone.
Avery’s mentor says he “is an energetic, free-spirited young man!” He also has a sharp mind and wants the sharp looks to match, sharing that he’d like to have fabulous clothes—“like a tuxedo”—and a great physique. Avery would love to spend time with his forever family going to church, shopping, and cooking, which is one of his favorite things to do on weekends. “I can cook macaroni and cheese,” Avery explains. His favorite food, however, is either chocolate chip or mint chocolate chip ice cream. He also likes to take walks, play video games, and watch funny videos. In school, Avery does grade-level work and likes to read and do art.
Avery’s early years were chaotic and traumatic, and he would benefit from the stability of a forever family that is patient and willing to help him with his emotional and behavioral needs.
